Theory Training
Learn how best practice can help keep your passengers safe and improve your drivers confidence and lower their levels of stress.
The Standard MiDAS driver theory training is now a series of ‘On-Line’ modules with an ‘On-Line’ theory test.
The ‘On-line’ theory modules and theory test can take about 90 minutes to complete in time suited to you/your staff/volunteers availability, but needs to be completed preferably 1 week prior to a drive assessment.
Prior to the drive assessment, drivers will be asked to send 3 sets of licence documents to our Trainer in order to confirm eligibility and legality to drive a minibus. Our Trainer will email individuals as to which documents are required and how to do this in advance of the drive assessment.
The Community Transport Association (CTA) will send delegates a ‘Welcome’ email with instructions on how delegates’ can access and ‘activate’ their individual Learner Pass to complete the ‘On-Line’ theory part of the ‘Standard’ MiDAS training.
Accessible MiDAS drivers attend a classroom based accessible theory session at your venue, and receive some background information on disability awareness, and information and advice on how to safely use a passenger lift/ramp, how to safely secure a wheelchair in the back of a vehicle, and most importantly, how to make sure the passenger is safe secure and comfortable.
Practical Training
Onsite Training
We can come to your venue in the Greater Manchester area, and use your minibus, or, we’ll bring our fully accessible, 17 seater Ford Transit minibus to you, (which is within the weight restriction for ‘B’ licence drivers), so the training takes place in a convenient and familiar environment.
Please Note: From our extensive experience, we prefer to only do 3 x 90 minute individualised Drive Assessments in any one day so drivers are not being assessed in’rush-hour’ traffic either at the start or the end of the day – it’s a lot safer, especially for any ‘newbie’ minibus drivers.
Prior to the drive assessment, our Trainer will send delegates some information/advice on what standards/skills will be required in order to undertake and successfully complete the 90 minute drive assessment.
